As the primary forestry research facility at Idaho’s Land Grant University, we support over 30 active researchers, two University-level institutes and more than $3 million in annual research funding. Our shared vision for the UIEF is to push the boundaries of digital transformation and Artificial Intelligence applications in production forestry as the most technologically-advanced operational research forest in the world.
Research Request Form
All research and teaching activities on the UIEF require prior review and permission. Before beginning any research or teaching activities on the UI Experimental Forest, all faculty, staff or external partners are required to complete a Research Request Form:

FY26 UIEF Research and Teaching Fees are in the following document. Please note that a College-wide data-use fee is being negotiated with the College of Natural Resources in lieu of individual user fees.
